A new offence of drug driving was introduced in March 2015. Currently the police have to show that the driver was under the influence of drugs and that his driving was impaired. This was not easy and few people were convicted of it

The new offence is very similar to the current drink driving offence in that there are limits set for 16 different drugs and the police will now be able to test for the quantity of the drug as well as the amount.
